24-year-old Alex de Minaur lost the first-set tiebreaker to former number three Milos Raonic on Monday but he came back strongly before the Canadian was forced to retire in the third. De Minaur set a career-high ATP world ranking of 10th this week after leading Australia to the semi-finals of the United Cup, doing so with a career-best ranking win over world number one Novak Djokovic, after the best year of his career so far in 2023 saw a maiden Masters final in Canada and a first ATP 500 title in Mexico. 22-year-old Matteo Arnaldi will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of around 37th after coming through a kind opener against wildcard Adam Walton on Sunday and he will gave to play the villain again in a likely thriller with Aussie number one De Minaur.
