THE PREDICTION
World number 23 Taylor Fritz was picked apart by Denis Shapovalov in the opening tie of the Mubadala Tennis Championship, with Shapovalov handing him a bagel in the second set. He faces world number 25 Dan Evans next after the Brit was similarly dismissed by an impressive Andy Murray in straight sets, although the 31-year-old provided some flashes of brilliance. Fritz was the winner of their only previous meeting with a straight-sets win on clay at the Italian Open earlier this year but with both players coming off fairly convincing losses this looks a tough pick. Over the last few months Fritz has been the player in the best form but Evans may well be the better supported with friends and family in the region and that is about as fine a factor as this match may come to. Take Evans to win at least a set as he often does, even in defeat, and leave the winner up to chance.
