Tallo Griekspoor is enjoying a fabulous week in Montreal having overcome Lorenzo Sonego, Alexander Zverev and Matteo Arnaldi.
He will need to hit similar heights if he is to progress and he cannot be complacent as he comes up against the in-form Spaniard Daniel Merida.
The 21-year-old comes off a battling three-set win over Alex Michelsen which was an outstanding performance to follow up his shock win over Ugo Humbert.
Merida is in unchartered territory here although he did make it to the third round at the Madrid Open earlier in the year.
The youngster is causing havoc on the tour this week however and he now challenges Griekspoor who he has never met before.
That is likely to be more of an issue for Griekspoor than him however and that adds to the intrigue of this encounter.
