Sara Bejlek vs Alycia Parks prediction
Sara Bejelk delighted the home crowd as she defeated Moyuka Uchijima in straight sets in her first-round match. The 19-year-old raced into a 3-0 lead at the start of the first set but was pegged back by Uchijima, who broke back and levelled at 3-3. The set would stay on serve until Bejlek crucially broke at 6-5 up. Uchijima earned an early break in set two but was then blown away by the young Czech, who reeled off six straight service games to win 7-5 6-2.
She will take on Alycia Parks after she ended a four match losing run with a 6-4 6-2 win over Mai Hontama. Parks made a slow start but quickly came into her own, winning 79% of her first serve points and hammering 10 aces.
This will be the first tour-level match between the pair, but they did face each other in the second stage of Australian Open qualifying in 2023. Bejlek, who was just 16 at the time, came from a set down to win. The teenager will be desperate to continue her run this week at her home event and is likely to put in another strong performance against Parks.
