THE PREDICTION

Defending champions face a tough opening contest to their Six Nations campaign as they head to Dublin to face Ireland in the curtain-raiser for the tournament. The Welsh fell agonisingly short in their quest to claim the Grand Slam last time around as they succumbed to a late comeback from France which resulted in their only loss and that could act as a motivator this time around. Andy Farrell’s men won three and lost two in 2021 as they bounced back from losing their first two games to finish on a high, culminating in a victory over England. They enjoy a solid recent record against the Welsh too having won four of their last five meetings and having not lost in any of their last four Six Nations meetings against Wales on home soil, the hosts are expected to prevail in this encounter with the margin of victory set to be at least seven points.
