THE TEAM NEWS

ST. HELENS

  • St. Helens were unable to make it five successive Grand Final victories as they fell short in the play-offs to bring their incredible run to an end.
  • Catalans Dragons toppled them in the final four but Saints look strong again this year and look capable of having another tilt at the title with Daryl Clark and Waqa Blake two eye-catching additions.

21-MAN SQUAD: Welsby, Makinson, Blake, Percival, Bennison, Lomax, Dodd, Walmsley, Clark, Lees, Mata’utia, Bell, Sironen, Wingfield, Whitley, Delaney, Davies, Royle, Hurrell, Burns, Ritson

LONDON BRONCOS

  • London Broncos secured an unlikely spot in Super League as they overcame the odds to win the Million Pound Game despite finishing fifth during the regular season.
  • The Broncos ended the season superbly and will now get another crack at the big time but their squad looks woefully short on quality and this it looks like it will be a tough campaign for the London side.

21-MAN SQUAD: Kershaw, Hoyes, Campagnolo, Davis, Davies, Storey, Miloudi, Macani, O. Leyland, Meadows, Butler, Stock, Lovell, Bassett, Hughes, Waine, Adebiyi, Kennedy, Williams, Parata, Monk

THE PREDICTION

This could be a real mismatch as St. Helens welcome London Broncos back to the Super League. Saints could not land an unprecedented fifth straight Super League title last year but they will be there or thereabouts come the business end of this season. For London, it will take a huge effort for them to avoid finishing bottom of the pile and it is hard to envisage them sticking with Saints here, even if the hosts are not at their very best to begin the season.

TIP: St. Helens -30
