• Queensland did a superb job in game 1 as they recorded a late victory and take the lead in the three-game State of Origin series with a chance to secure the shield on home soil.
• Reuben Cotter was the star of the show as he claimed the Man of the Match award and he could be a late inclusion in the starting 13 here with Tom Gilbert and Jai Arrow both ruled out through injury.

• New South Wales failed to take their chances as they succumbed to a disappointing loss in game 1 and they must claim a rare win at Suncorp Stadium if they are to keep the series alive.
• The Blues will need to greatly improve on that effort but they have been forced into changes with halfback Nathan Cleary ruled out so Mitchell Moses takes the #7 jersey while Latrell Mitchell has failed to prove his fitness.

THE PREDICTION

Queensland ran out 26-18 winners in the opening game of the 2023 State of Origin series and a win on home soil at fortress Suncorp Stadium will secure the series with a game to spare. The Maroons had to dig deep in game 1 but looked like they were the outfit that were better coached as the Blues failed to get the job done despite the greater possession and territory. They are not out of the series by any means but this is a daunting prospect with a new halves pairing and the Maroons should be able to get the job done here.
