Leading into the men’s Hundred Birmingham Phoenix were hit by the bad news that England international, star batter and newly named captain Jacob Bethell would miss the competition due to a knee injury. It cannot be expressed enough just how damaging this is for the Phoenix, who are entering the tournament with a much-changed batting line-up having bid farewell to the likes of Liam Livingstone and Ben Duckett.
Will Smeed remains at the top of the order and he’ll be joined by new addition Joe Clarke.
