THE TEAM NEWS

NORTH QUEENSLAND COWBOYS

  • North Queensland Cowboys were beaten for the second game in succession as New Zealand Warriors got the better of them in what was a shock loss on home soil last week.
  • The Cowboys are generally tough to beat in Townsville but were undone thanks to an underwhelming performance and to make matters worse, they have now lost Reuben Cotter to a knee injury.

Starting 13: Chester, Feldt, Holmes, Shibasaki, Taulagi, Dearden, Townsend, McLean, Robson, Neame, Hess, Nanai, Taumalolo – Interchanges: Granville, Luki, Taunoa-Brown, Tamou – Reserves: Elliot, Price, Dunn, Moceidreke, Finefeuiaki

Unavailable: Luciano Leilua (Stood down), Ben Hampton (Injured), Jack Gosiewski (Injured), Peta Hiku (Suspended), Scott Drinkwater (Suspended), Reuben Cotter (Injured)

GOLD COAST TITANS

  • Gold Coast Titans stunned Melbourne Storm last week to make it two wins from three to begin the season and they will be full of confidence on the back of that success.
  • The Titans were superb with ball in hand and while there is lots of room for improvement defensively, head coach Justin Holbrook will be hoping his side can ask plenty of questions of the Cowboys with the same 17 named for this contest.

Starting 13: Brimson, Khan-Pereira, Kelly, Schoupp, Sami, Foran, Boyd, Fotuaika, Randall, T. Fa’asuamaleaui, D. Fifita, Stimson, Liu – Interchanges: Campbell, Vuna, Clark, I. Fa’asuamaleaui – Reserves: Haas, McIntyre, Sexton, Kini, Spry

Unavailable: Patrick Herbert (Injured), Beau Fermor (Injured), Jojo Fifita (Injured), Sam Verrills (Injured), Jaimin Jolliffe (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

North Queensland Cowboys went down to a disappointing defeat at home to New Zealand Warriors last week and will be eager to right the wrongs of that display. They get the chance to do so in this Queensland derby against Gold Coast Titans but the away side will fancy their chances of causing another upset after they got the better of Melbourne Storm last time out. The Titans will hope to build on that performance in which they excelled with the ball but their defensive efforts suggest that this could be an open game with over 44.5 points set to be scored in this encounter.
