Given that Donna Vekic is an Olympic silver medallist on clay, she has yet to ignite on the surface in 2025. 

The Croatian has had a solid if unspectacular year so far and has won two of her four matches since switching to the dirt. 

The 20th seed will also know she has a tricky second round contest in the Italian capital with former US Open champion Bianca Andreescu at the opposite side of the net.

The Canadian is on her latest rise up the rankings after persistent injury woes, but remains a force to be reckoned with on her day.
