Rebecca Marino vs Emma Navarro prediction
Rebecca Marino returns to the Canadian Open at the age of 34 and she finds herself having come through the first round for just the second time of her career. The Toronto native reached the third round back in 2021 and that is the only other time she has won a main round match in the tournament so she will be in good spirits coming into this match.
She faces a tough assignment however as she comes up against the eighth seed Emma Navarro in the second round.
Navarro’s preparations have not been ideal coming into this one as she was eliminated in her first match in Washington last week by Maria Sakkari 7-5 7-6.
She will be motivated to improve in this North American swing of the tour and she can take heart from her performances last year in this tournament when she reached the semi-finals.
Navarro should simply have too much for Marino here and we expect her to be super focused after the loss last week and hit the ground running here. We expect a win in straight sets for the eighth seed.
