EGYPT PREVIEW: EXPERIENCE AND RESILIENCE
Under the management of Rogerio Micale, who led Brazil to their first ever gold medal in the 2016 Olympics eight years ago, the Egyptians started their tournament slowly but coming from behind to defeat Spain in the groups showed just how resilient this side has been.
In the quarter-finals they required penalties to defeat Paraguay after equalising in the 88th minute before then leading France until the 83rd minute before a Jean-Philipe Mateta brace and Michael Olise strike turned the game on its head.
MOROCCO PREVIEW: DRAMA ALL THE WAY
Morocco have taken part in what is already one of the most gripping tournament displays by any side. From their extremely controversial 2-1 defeat of Argentina in their opening game of the competition a couple of weeks ago to losing their second game in the 98th minute.
They then enjoyed really impressive hammering of Iraq and the United States in order to make the semi-finals but were eventually undone by Spain. They took the lead in that game, though, with Spain turning it in on its head in the second-half.
EGYPT VS MOROCCO PREDICTION
Neither of these sides would have expected to be challenging for a gold or silver medal in the men’s football tournament so for it to be the bronze medal match will be satisfying and exciting for both of them. They have both shown exciting traits, especially the Moroccans, but the jeopardy of a medal now being on the line could mean we see much more of an Egyptian trend from both teams and we have a low-scoring encounter in which even extra-time and penalties beckon.
EGYPT VS MOROCCO TIP: UNDER 2.5 GOALS
