Ranked 142nd in the world, Burundi come into this one on the back of beginning their AFCON group stage qualifying campaign with a 1-0 loss to Togo after an 8-0 aggregate defeat of Chad in the preliminary round back in March.
Algeria reached the knockout stages of FIFA World Cup 2026. The North Africans started a new era post-Vladimir Petkovic with a 3-1 defeat of Zambia the other day, with second half goals scored by Ibrahim Maza and Anis Hadj Moussa.
The Algerians have a fair bit of attacking depth and quality, and they have to be viewed as favourites for this one in a likely entertaining encounter.
