Naomi Osaka vs Anastasija Sevastova prediction

Naomi Osaka is playing some excellent tennis this week and she comes off an outstanding 60-2 6-4 win over Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko.

That came off the back of a three-set battle against Liudmila Samsonova in the second round but the different manner of these victories will only serve to give Osaka a boost in confidence.

Osaka now faces another Latvian in the round of 16 as she faces off against Anastasija Sevastova who producing a stirring performance to overcome Jessica Pegula 3-6 6-4 6-1.

Despite losing the first set, she hung in there well and when Pegula dropped off and started making some unforced errors, Sevastova took full advantage and managed to get the win.

The pair have met five times before with Osaka leading the head-to-head 3-2. That said, their last meeting was in 2019 so little can be taken from those past encounters.

We really like Osaka in this one and how she is playing this week. She is eight years younger than Sevastova and that could be a factor after Sevastova played three sets last time out and had a tough match.

We strongly favour Osaka to get the win and we fancy her to do it in straight sets too.
