AILIN PEREZ VS JOSELYNE EDWARDS LOWDOWN
Ailin Perez (9-2) has not fought anyone of note however, she has answered every question since losing her UFC debut against Stephanie Egger (2022). She got submitted in the second round and then dropped back down to bantamweight to earn unanimous decisions over Ashlee Evans-Smith (2023) and Lucie Pudilova (2023) to get her UFC career up and running.
Joselyne Edwards’ (13-5) last win was also against Pudilova (2023) who she scraped past in a split decision. That capped off a three-fight win streak including decisions over Ramona Pasqual (2022) and Ji Yeon Kim (2022). She last fought in Paris back in September and lost another unanimous decision, this time against Nora Cornolle to knock her UFC record down to 4-3.
AILIN PEREZ VS JOSELYNE EDWARDS PREDICTION
It is hard to predict how high their ceilings are with no notable wins under the belt, but it is safe to say that neither fighter will fight for a title. That said, they are both skilled fighters and there is some beef between them which makes this more interesting.
Perez is a strong wrestler whereas Edwards is a technical striker who uses her reach well. She will boast a four-inch arm reach and three-inch leg reach advantage and she will leverage that with an array of kicks.
If she can keep Perez at a distance and defend the takedowns, she can cruise a decision as the better striker. However, her takedown defence is mediocre, and we expect Perez to take her down. Edwards will not accept being pinned down, so we can expect Perez to chain takedowns together and convince the judges with control time.
Prediction: Perez via Decision
