Mai Hontama vs Alycia Parks prediction
Mai Hontama dropped just five service games in her two qualifying matches as the Japanese player comfortably made the main draw for the Prague Open. She is ranked just outside of the top 200 in the world rankings. Hontama competed in Porto last week on the ITF Tour, reaching the quarter-finals before a three set loss to Anna-Lena Friedsam. Her best result of the season was a final appearance at the Empire Slovak Open in the middle of May on the clay.
She faces Alycia Parks in round one. Parks has struggled for form all season and is currently on a four match losing run. Her season began in encouraging fashion as she made the semi-finals in Auckland, beating Wimbledon finalist Amanda Anisimova along the way, but she has failed to get past the second-round in any of the following events.
Hontama defeated Parks in their only previous encounter, a qualifier in Landisville nearly four years ago. She’s breezed through both of her qualifying matches and could cause an upset here in the first-round.
