Magda Linette vs Danielle Collins prediction

Despite some decent preparation on grass heading into the tournament, Magda Linette suffered a disappointing first-round exit at Wimbledon in her most recent event. She now returns to the American hard court swing, and she did have some decent showings on the surface earlier in the year. Linette reached the quarter-finals in Abu Dhabi and more impressively won four straight set matches in a row to make the last eight in Miami.

Her opponent in round one will be Danielle Collins. Collins lost to eventual winner Iga Swiatek in the third-round of Wimbledon last time out. The 2022 Australian Open finalist’s best results have been on clay this season, though she did win a few matches during the Sunshine Double events. She reached the third-round in Indian Wells and followed that up with a round-of-16 finish in Miami soon after.

These two are always competitive on a hard court, with Collins leading the head-to-head 1-0 after defeating Linette at Indian Wells seven years ago. There’s a strong chance this could head to a decider.
