Magda Linette vs Anna Kalinskaya prediction
Magda Linette recovered from a slow start and a drop in level in the second set to defeat Danielle Collins and win her first-round match. Collins raced into a 4-1 lead at the start, but Linette reeled off three straight games, breaking back to draw level. She then broke the Collins serve once more towards the end of the first set and served it out. Linette was a double break up at one stage in the second set but squandered the advantage, only to get that crucial advantage once more to win 7-5 6-4.
She will face Anna Kalinskaya in the next round after the Russian defeated her compatriot Kamilla Rakhimova 6-2 6-3. She’s not had the best of seasons so far but this was a welcome performance from Kalinskaya, who dominated the majority of the rallies and won 77% of his first serve points.
Linette leads the head-to-head 1-0, beating Kalinskaya in the first-round of Wimbledon six years ago. This will be their first match on a hard court, and we think there is little to separate the two. Linette may be a slight favourite but she did display some deficiencies in round one which could be exploited by Kalinskaya.
