Leolia Jeanjean last competed in Contrexeville on the ITF Tour a few weeks ago, losing in the first-round to Amandine Hesse. She has made three finals this year, in Bengaluru, Pune and Vacaria, but has failed to win any of them. She is currently ranked 99 in the world.
Nuria Parrizas-Diaz is ranked just one place below in the rankings. The Spaniard retired from her first-round match in Iasi last week. Her form has taken a slight dip since winning an event in Valencia on the Challenger Tour a month ago. The 34-year-old did show some promise at the start of the year on hard court, as she reached the semi-finals in Canberra, though she ultimately failed to retain her title after winning the event in 2024.
There’s very little between the pair and no clear favourite. Parrizas-Diaz is coming back from an injury and might struggle to get up to speed during the opening exchanges, but Jeanjean hasn’t shown enough in recent events to suggest that she’ll capitalise straight away. This could very well go to a decider.
