Learner Tien is looking sharp heading into this round of 16 clash with Thiago Agustin Tirante as he comes off a dominant 6-3 6-2 victory over compatriot Tommy Paul.
The 20-year-old made it to the fourth round last year and will be looking to go beyond that this time around and he has a favourable matchup against Tirante.
The Argentine 25-year-old is in fine form himself this week and has beaten strong opponents in Taylor Fritz and then Alexei Popyrin last time out.
This is looking like being a breakout year for Tirante but he is ultimately far better suited to clay. While his performances on hard courts should not be underestimated, this matchup with Tien may be a step too far.
