Laura Samson has been handed a wildcard at the Prague One for the second successive year. Last year's tournament was her WTA Tour debut and she enjoyed a remarkable week, winning three successive matches before being forced to retire in the semi-finals when trailing Magdalena Frech in the deciding set. Both players might be rusty, having to transition back to hard courts after months spent on clay. Nevertheless, Samson is likely to be extra motivated in front of a home crowd and will be hopeful of enjoying a similarly impressive run after last year’s exploits, which surprised many.
