Katerina Siniakova vs Elena-Gabriela Ruse prediction
Katerina Siniakova last competed in the singles at Wimbledon, losing in the second-round to four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka. She is currently ranked 86 in the world and has not been much of a threat in her recent tournaments. Siniakova showed some promise in the earlier part of the campaign, making the semi-finals in Cluj on the ITF Tour and then getting through to the third-round of Indian Wells.
Elena-Gabriela Ruse will be her opponent in the first-round. The Romanian enjoyed a fine run to the final of the Libema Open to prepare her for Wimbledon, but she lost in round one at SW19 to reigning Australian Open champion Madison Keys despite taking the first set. Ruse’s best events have been on clay and grass this season, but she did reach the third-round of the Miami Open in March and will hope for another credible run on the surface here.
Ruse is ranked 30 places higher than her opponent and has been the more solid player of the two on tour this season. She should fancy her chances of coming through with a win in the first-round.
