Joao Fonseca continues to impress at the tender age of 19 and the Brazilian has already beaten Stefanos Tsitsipas and Casper Ruud en route to the round of 16.
Ben Shelton has looked highly impressive in his opening two matches cruising to victory in straight sets as he bids to defend his title.
By the lofty standards that Shelton set in the second half of last year, he will be somewhat disappointed with his results in the first half of 2026. However, he will be confident about raising a level in the second half of this on the North American circuit.
The pair have met once before and that came on clay earlier this year when Shelton won 6-3 3-6 6-3 in Munich.
