Jesper de Jong made it to the quarter-finals of the Swedish Open after getting past Vit Kopriva in straight sets. The Dutchman started strongly and went 5-2 up in the first but was pegged back by Koprvia, who reeled off three straight games to draw level. De Jong still won the set on a tiebreak and then gained the crucial advantage late in the second to win 7-6 7-5.
He will face compatriot Tallon Griekspoor in the next round. Griekspoor came back from the brink to beat Andrea Pellegrino. De Jong leads the head-to-head 1-0, beating Griekspoor 7-6 6-4 in the quarter-finals of the Montpellier Open, but this is their first match on clay. Griekspoor will need to perform to a higher standard in this one if he is to get past his fellow countryman, but he may encounter some problems.
