Hailey Baptiste vs Sofia Kenin prediction
Hailey Baptiste reached the third-round of Wimbledon for the first time but was mostly uncompetitive against Mirra Andreeva and lost in straight sets. Baptiste also broke new ground at the previous major as she made the fourth-round of a slam for the first time at Roland Garros. Nevertheless, her general form has not been particularly inspiring and she hasn’t made a quarter-final of an event since the Auckland Classic all the way back in January.
Sofia Kenin will be her opponent in the first-round of the Washington Open. Kenin returns to the hard courts after losing in the second-round of Wimbledon. Apart from a very impressive run to the final of the Charleston Open in April on clay, which saw her win five matches in a row, it’s been a disappointing season for the 2020 Australian Open champion.
Kenin leads the head-to-head 1-0, but this will be their first match on a hard court. She defeated Baptiste in the second-round of Roland Garros in 2021. Kenin can be unpredictable at times, but she is still a clear favourite against Baptiste.
