Francisco Cerundolo vs Luciano Darderi prediction
Francisco Cerundolo registered back-to-back wins after beating Damir Dzumhur in the quarter-finals of the Swedish Open. Cerundolo made a storming start, but his level dropped alarmingly in the second set as he was broken on three separate occasions. The decider went on serve but the top seed found the all-important break late on to win 6-0 3-6 6-3.
He will now face Luciano Darderi. Darderi breezed through to the semi-finals after thrashing Sebastian Baez 6-0 6-2. The Italian reached the third round of a slam for the first time at Wimbledon a fortnight ago and he’s brought his strong form into this event, as he makes a second semi-final of the season.
It’s Cerundolo that leads the head-to-head, winning two of their three matches so far. They’ve all been on clay, and the Argentine has already come out on top in both matches this year, defeating Darderi within the space of a week in Buenos Aires and Rio.
However, Darderi is performing strongly at the moment and is likely to push Cerundolo all the way. We think this is likely to go to a decider.
