Francesco Passaro produced a superb performance as he defeated Arthur Rinderknech 6-1 7-5 in the first-round in Gstaad. The Italian qualifier made a storming start to the match and kept his composure in the second to wrap up a victory in straight sets, with 30 winners in total.
His opponent in the next stage of the tournament will be Jerome Kym. Kym battled past Calvin Hemery to make the round-of-16 at one of his home events. He went a break down early in the decider but fought back and is now just one match away from making the quarter-finals of an ATP Tour event for the first time this season.
