THE LOWDOWN
REAL SOCIEDAD
Real Sociedad have endured a similar pattern to recent seasons whereby La Real have started the season extremely well before significantly fading. The Basque club, who have one of the most intense pressing styles in European football, are in danger of drifting out of the top six and the UEFA Europa League spots in La Liga after a disappointing second-half of the season.
The home team come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw away to Getafe in their most recent outing at the Coliseum, last weekend. Ander Barrenetxea opened the scoring in the 13th minute before Oscar Rodriguez’ equaliser later in the half. They have now managed just four victories in their last 15 matches across all competitions.
REAL MADRID
It has been a truly astonishing season for Real Madrid. In 46 matches across all competitions so far this season, Los Blancos have managed to only lose to their city rivals Atletico Madrid with that happening on two occasions, both at the Metropolitano. Carlo Ancelotti’s men are targeting both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League in the next month.
La Liga is now all but wrapped up as they head into the final six games of the campaign with an 11-point lead over El Clasico rivals Barcelona at the top-of-the-table after last weekend’s dramatic clash at the Bernabeu. Jude Bellingham scored a stoppage-time winner to give Madrid a 3-2 victory and that was their fifth successive La Liga win.

THE PREDICTION
The lack of intensity from Real Sociedad in the second-half of this season is a concern for the club’s hierarchy and Imanol Aguacil because the style of football is clearly unsustainable over a period of time. Real Madrid are a team that you could perhaps suggest have no discernible, over arching tactical philosophy but there is very much a style and swagger to the way they play and simply do not lose. Backing anything other than a Madrid win is often very foolish.
TIP: REAL MADRID TO WIN
