THE LOWDOWN
REAL BETIS
Coached by former Manchester City, Malaga, West Ham United and Real Madrid manager Manuel Pellegrini, Real Betis have endured an underwhelming and difficult calendar year with elimination from both the UEFA Europa Conference League and the Copa del Rey, as well as some underperformance in La Liga.
The Andalusians come into this one on the back of a 3-2 loss to Girona in their most recent outing a couple of weeks ago just after the break. That means Betis have now managed just one victory in their last eight matches across all competitions as they open the door for the challengers to finish above them in the top seven.
CELTA VIGO
For much of this season, Celta Vigo have performed a lot better than their results have shown. However, the Galicians finally took the decision to relieve manager Rafa Benitez of his duties last month, replacing the former Liverpool and Real Madrid boss with Celta’s B team coach, Claudio Giraldez.
Their performances have improved since the appointment of Claudio Giraldez with Celta collecting four points in his two matches either side of the March international break. They defeated Sevilla by two goals to one last month with Carles Perez and Jorgen Strand Larsen scoring goals to turn the game on its head before they then shared a goalless draw with Rayo a couple of weeks ago.
THE TEAM NEWS
REAL BETIS
Real Betis are once again without annuary signing Chimy Avila, who is missing through suspension for this weekend, whilst Marc Bartra is also a doubt.
PREDICTED XI (4-1-4-1): Silva; Ruibal, Pezzella, Riad, Abner; Rodriguez; Fornals, Isco, Fekir, Ayoze Perez; Willian Jose
UNAVAILABLE: Avila (Suspended)
QUESTIONABLE: Bartra (Injured)
CELTA VIGO
Celta are without both Williot Swedberg and Carlos Dotor, who are out injured, and defender Mihailo Ristic is a doubt for the trip down south, too.
PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Guaita; Mingueza, Starfelt, Dominguez; Alvarez, Beltran, Sotelo, Sanchez; Aspas, Bamba, Strand Larsen
UNAVAILABLE: Swedberg (Injured), Dotor (Injured)
QUESTIONABLE: Ristic (Injured)
THE PREDICTION
Despite being under major pressure, Real Betis went to high flyers Girona a couple of weeks ago and went on the front foot, eventually losing a five-goal thriller. In that game, Pellegrini named a very attacking team with Guido Rodriguez a deep midfielder behind the likes of Ayoze Perez, Isco, Nabil Fekir and Pablo Fornals. Celta have also begun to improve since the departure of Rafa Benitez and both teams scoring would seem a good bet for this one at the Benito Villamarin.
