THE LOWDOWN

VIZELA

Last season, Vizela finished firmly in the middle-of-the-table and then, over the summer, they lost their exciting young manager, Alvaro Pacheco to Estoril, who has already been sacked, and he was replaced by inexperienced journeyman coach Pablo Villar, who was in charge for a part of Riteriai in the Lithuanian A Lyga last season.

The hosts begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just outside of the bottom three and the relegation places. Vizela come into this on the back of a 1-0 win away to Atletico CP in the third round of the Taca de Portugal, last weekend. They have managed two wins, shared two draws and suffered two defeats so far.

PORTO

Last season, Porto relinquished the title to their ‘O Classico’ rivals, Benfica. They, though, are determined to reclaim the Portuguese championship, albeit they have been unconvincing throughout the season with their performances after a fairly quite summer transfer window with few arrivals.

Under the management of Sergio Conceicao, they started with four successive victoris against teams that are expected to struggle throughout the season and all of their wins were dramatic and needed late goals. Their eight Primeira Liga matches so far this season have consisted of just 14 goals with just eight scored.

THE TEAM NEWS

PORTO

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Costa; Joao Mario, Pedro, Carmo, Jaime; Varela, Gonzalez; Baro, Taremi, Pepe; Evanilson

THE PREDICTION

Vizela have dramatically underperformed throughout this season after finishing mid-table last year. With just one win in eight matches, they are in a position that are expected to finish in the bottom two and the automatic relegation places this season. They face a Porto side that, with Conceicao’s reactive and determined style of football, have made a habit of grinding out the victories so a low-scoring away win is the expected outcome for this one.

BETTING TIP: PORTO TO WIN & UNDER 3.5 GOALS
