A few years ago, Estrela da Amadora came into existence after the merger of two clubs; Clube Desportivo Estrela and Club Sintra Football. Since then, they have managed two promotions in their last three seasons and reached the top-flight of the Portuguese football for the first time ever, under the management of Sergio Vieira.
The hosts come into this on the back of back-to-back victories either side of the international break. Prior to that break, they defeated Casa Pia by a goal to nil in the Primeira Liga before a 1-0 win against Vila Mea in the third round of the Taca de Portugal. They sit firmly in the middle-of-the-table with eight goals scored in eight games.
