THE LOWDOWN
UDINESE
In the early part of this season, Udinese were drawing far too many games so they parted company with Andrea Sottil. Through the middle of the season, Udinese were drawing too many games so they recently parted company with former Crawley Town boss Gabriele Cioffi and he has been replaced by former Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro.
The reign of the 2006 Ballon d’Or winner began with an improved performance against Roma before eventually conceding a second-half stoppage-time winning goal. His second game in charge? A draw, of course. The Friulians went away to high-flying Bologna and shared a 1-1 draw with Alexis Saelemaekers cancelling out Martin Payero’s opener.
NAPOLI
It has been a wholly pathetic defence of the Italian title from Napoli, both on and off the pitch, throughout the campaign. Their third manager of the campaign, Francesco Calzona, would be on his last legs himself if it wasn’t a case of simply getting through to the end of the season as quickly as possible with no more drama for Napoli.
Calzona, who will coach Slovakia at UEFA EURO 2024 and has followed on from the sackings of Rudi Garcia and Walter Mazzarri, has Napoli currently sitting outside of the top eight and the European spots. They most recently shared a 2-2 draw with Roma in a game in which they took an 84th minute lead before a late Tammy Abraham equaliser.

THE PREDICTION
Udinese remain in the Serie A relegation battle and Fabio Cannavaro was dealt a bad hand with this run of fixtures having the 2023 league title winners as the easiest game. Napoli cannot be trusted to win any game this season and they have managed just three victories in 13 matches across all competitions under Calzona. Given that, their home advantage and their improved performances, backing Udinese looks a good bet for this one.
TIP: DOUBLE CHANCE – UDINESE TO WIN OR DRAW
