Spezia are giving themselves a fighting chance of avoiding the drop after claiming a second positive result in succession last time out. On the back of a shock win over AC Milan, Spezia were able to keep things tight at the back as they played out a goalless draw with Lecce last weekend.
In a nervy affair, both teams had several good chances in front of goal but they failed to find the back of the net. A winning goal would have been huge for Spezia but they will have been content with their efforts and now sit outside of the bottom three having leapfrogged Verona.
Every point matters for Spezia in their effort to remain in Serie A and they will hope home comforts can help them gain a third positive result in succession. They have only lost two of their last six on home soil and have toppled both AC and Inter Milan during that run.
TORINO
Torino were left somewhat frustrated as they were held to a draw with Fiorentina last time out. Luka Jovic gave the visitors the lead before Antonio Sanabria levelled the scores but Torino’s efforts to secure a winner were in vain and they had to settle for a point.
It is now four games without a loss for Torino while they have lost just one of their last seven matches, a 1-2 home defeat against Atalanta at the end of April. They now head on the road where they are unbeaten in five and will be confident of further success here.
Of those five recent away games, they have won four and drawn the other, conceding just once in the process. That is an impressive record and has put them on course to finish in the top half of the table.
THE PREDICTION
This is a really tough game to call as Spezia host Torino. The home side have picked up four points from a possible six in their last two outings to move out of the relegation zone but they come up against a tricky opponent here. Torino are unbeaten in four while they have avoided defeat in their last five on the road. Four of those recent away games have ended with them claiming all three points but Spezia will be desperate for some form of result here so it will not be easy for the visitors to extend their unbeaten record. Torino are fancied to claim at least a point owing to their strong defensive record but with that in mind, expect a low-scoring affair.
