THE LOWDOWN
MONZA
Monza are an ambitious club and will be hoping to leap into the top seven and earn European qualification at some stage in the near future and they won’t have ruled it out this time around, either, just yet. They begin the weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just a few points and places outside of the aforementioned top seven.
A couple of weeks ago, they enjoyed a famous victory over relatively local rivals AC Milan, defeating the Rossoneri by four goals to two. Monza backed that up by an impressive and comfortable 2-0 defeat of bottom-of-the-table Salernitana – a game they should win but perhaps one they have made a habit of slipping up in.
ROMA
After the departure of Jose Mourinho, who was already producing yet another underwhelming third season in charge, Roma have dramatically improved the standard and entertainment value of their performances as the propel themselves towards a top four challenge and also into the knockout stages of the UEFA Europa League.
The Giallorossi come into this one on the back of an entertaining 3-2 defeat of Torino in their most recent outing, last Monday, with a sterling performance from Paulo Dybala whereby the Argentine forward scored a hat-trick and put on a show to make it just one loss in eight matches across all competitions.
THE TEAM NEWS
MONZA
Monza are missing several first-team players for this weekend with defender Armando Izzo missing through suspension, whilst Gianluca Caprari and Patrick Ciurria are both out injured.
PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Di Gregorio; Birindelli, Caldirola, Mari, A. Carboni; Gagliardini, Pessina; Colpani, V. Carboni, Mota; Duric
UNAVAILABLE: Gomez (Suspended), Izzo (Suspended), Ciurria (Injured), Vignato (Injured), Caprari (Injured)
QUESTIONABLE:
ROMA
England international striker Tammy Abraham is missing from this weekend still due to his ACL injury, whilst Rick Karsdorp is also a doubt.
PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Svilar; Mancini, Smalling, Ndicka; Kristensen, Cristante, Paredes, Pellegrini, Tasende; Dybala, Azmoun
UNAVAILABLE: Abraham (Injured)
QUESTIONABLE: Karsdorp (Injured)
THE PREDICTION
Monza will attack this game against an opponent that have been playing an extremely entertaining style of football. Daniele De Rossi has created a Roman side playing with a front foot and attacking identity with the eight matches that he has been in charge of consisting of 28 goals. Monza, as they did against AC Milan the other week, will be confident of scoring themselves and both teams scoring would seem a good bet for this one.
TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
