Stefano Pioli is under a little bit of pressure as AC Milan come into this one on the back of a 2-1 loss to Roma in their most recent outing in midweek at Stadio Olimpico in the second-leg of their UEFA Europa League quarter-final tie, completing a 3-1 aggregate defeat to their Serie A rivals and making the rest of their season fairly dull.

They are out of the Coppa Italia and head into the final six games of the 2023/24 campaign with very little to play for. They begin this match day sitting 14 points adrift of their city rivals Internazionale at the top-of-the-table but 18 points clear of sixth place, with the top five expected to be enough to ensure UEFA Champions League qualification.

When Internazionale are eventually crowned champions this season, the Nerazzurri will have won their 20th Scudetto and therefore earn a second star upon their badge. Simone Inzaghi’s side have been in the category of champions-elect since late January and it is only a matter of time before that is mathematically confirmed.

Inter come into this one on the back of a disappointing 2-2 draw at home to struggling Cagliari in their most recent outing last week with Eldor Shomurodov and Nicolas Viola scoring equalising goals for the Sardinians in that match. That does mean they have now managed just two victories in their last five matches across all competitions.

Defender Malick Thiaw is out suspended for this weekend with fellow defenders Simon Kjaer and Pierre Kalulu also sidelined for this one through injury.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Gabbia, Tomori, Hernandez; Musah, Bennacer; Pulisic, Loftus-Cheek, Leao; Giroud

UNAVAILABLE: Thiaw (Suspended), Mirante (Injured), Kjaer (Injured), Kalulu (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Alex Jimenez (Injured)

Simone Inzaghi is blessed with a fully fit and available squad for this week’s clash with city rivals Milan and he can name an unchanged eleven at San Siro.

PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Sommer; Bisseck, Acerbi, Bastoni; Darmian; Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Sanchez, Thuram

If Inter manage to defeat their rivals Milan this week then they will be crowned Italian champions. It is a really exciting set of matches on the day of the Derby della Madonnina in Italy with AC Milan and Internazionale facing off against each other at San Siro after Roma and Bologna play a crucial game in the race for the top five. AC Milan need a response in this one after they were eliminated in the UEFA Europa League. Inter have had a simply ridiculous season in Serie A with their goal difference of +60 representative of that. Inter are firm favourites to get the job done and do in style against the team they share a stadium with.
