Stefano Pioli is under a little bit of pressure as AC Milan come into this one on the back of a 2-1 loss to Roma in their most recent outing in midweek at Stadio Olimpico in the second-leg of their UEFA Europa League quarter-final tie, completing a 3-1 aggregate defeat to their Serie A rivals and making the rest of their season fairly dull.
They are out of the Coppa Italia and head into the final six games of the 2023/24 campaign with very little to play for. They begin this match day sitting 14 points adrift of their city rivals Internazionale at the top-of-the-table but 18 points clear of sixth place, with the top five expected to be enough to ensure UEFA Champions League qualification.
INTER MILAN
When Internazionale are eventually crowned champions this season, the Nerazzurri will have won their 20th Scudetto and therefore earn a second star upon their badge. Simone Inzaghi’s side have been in the category of champions-elect since late January and it is only a matter of time before that is mathematically confirmed.
Inter come into this one on the back of a disappointing 2-2 draw at home to struggling Cagliari in their most recent outing last week with Eldor Shomurodov and Nicolas Viola scoring equalising goals for the Sardinians in that match. That does mean they have now managed just two victories in their last five matches across all competitions.
