THE LOWDOWN

RB LEIPZIG

RB Leipzig return from the international break a point outside the top four, but looking to continue a streak of three consecutive Bundesliga victories. Those wins have seen Leipzig find the net a whopping 11 times, conceding just twice at the other end of the field. But Marco Rose’s side cannot take their foot off the gas in the push for a Champions League place.

MAINZ

Mainz are occupying the relegation play-off place as it stands and face a daunting six-point gap to overcome if they are to reach safety before the end of the relegation season. More worrying though, they are only one point ahead of FC Cologne in 17th-place, who will be looking to knock them back into the automatic relegation places if they can.

THE PREDICTION

Although any encounter with a relegation-threatened side is never easy at this stage of the season with Mainz fighting for their Bundesliga lives, the reality is that RB Leipzig are a far superior team in all departments. Expect them to control proceedings throughout most of the 90 minutes and create more than enough chances to win comfortably. Back the hosts to do just that and by at least two clear goals.

TIP: RB LEIPZIG TO WIN WITH -1 HANDICAP
