THE LOWDOWN

MAINZ

Nobody expected Mainz to come away from the Allianz Arena with anything last weekend, regardless of Bayern Munich’s recent struggles. But to be demolished in the manner that they were only served to ram another nail in Mainz’s Bundesliga coffin. All they can do is close the book on that particular chapter and focus on a significantly more winnable encounter here against Bochum. With two points between them and 16th-placed FC Cologne, all is not lost just yet.

BOCHUM

Bochum currently have a significant safety net that seperates them from the bottom three in the form of a seven-point cushion. Lost in Mainz however, and they’ll start to feel the heat as it would be their fourth consecutive Bundesliga defeat. The Bochum backline simply cannot stop leaking goals at present, shipping 11 across their last three fixtures and if they don’t plug this immediately, it won’t end well for them.

THE PREDICTION

The sheer number of injuries currently plaguing the Bochum squad cannot be underestimated and Mainz are in a prime position to try and capitalise. It’s a must-win game for them and the intensity should be apparent in their play. Victories have been so desperately hard to come by for the hosts, but this is arguably the best chance they have to record one in a significant period. Therefore, utilise the draw no bet market for extra security and back Mainz to come out on top.

TIP: MAINZ DRAW NO BET
