THE LOWDOWN

RENNES

Rennes are ending the season strongly and have hugely impressed in their last two matches. The level of opposition has been poor but that does not detract from their efforts having ran out 0-5 winners against Ajaccio on the back of defeating Troyes 4-0.

A superb first half performance saw them lead by four goals at the break with Baptiste Santamaria and Jeremy Doku finding the back of the net, along with a brace from Amine Gouiri before he went on to complete his hat-trick in the second half.

Rennes have now won three of their last four matches and they have also won their last three on home soil, scoring 11 goals in the process and that goalscoring prowess will make them tough to defeat in this contest.

MONACO

Monaco’s end of season blip continued and they need to be wary of the teams in the chasing pack as they aim to secure European football. They suffered a 3-1 loss at the hands of Lyon last time out to leave them with just one win in their last five.

Wissam Ben Yedder opened the scoring from the penalty spot inside the first two minutes but that was as good as it got for Monaco as Alexandre Lacazette, Maxence Caqueret and Rayan Cherki were able to swing the game in Lyon’s favour.

Despite their poor recent form, Monaco have generally been solid on the road this season. They have lost two of their last three away games but they are their only defeats in their last 12 matches away from home.

THE PREDICTION

This is an intriguing contest between two teams inside the top six and there is plenty at stake for the pair. Rennes sit three points behind Monaco and can potentially leapfrog them into fourth with a win here, although Lille can remain ahead of Rennes should they win their game elsewhere. Rennes have been in superb scoring form of late and with Monaco winning just one of their last five, preference is for the hosts here and they should be backed in the draw no bet market.

TIP: RENNES DRAW NO BET
