Luis Enrique has his Paris Saint-Germain side in a good groove at the moment, albeit the defending champions and current runaway Ligue 1 leaders have not yet fully clicked into gear with the style of football that he is implementing with their current base level being high but with the potential to be absolutely outstanding.
PSG come into this one on the back of a comfortable and impressive 2-0 defeat of Nantes in their most recent outing, last weekend, with goals from Lucas Hernandez and Kylian Mbappe. This week, though, has been dominated by the news that Mbappe has reportedly agreed terms with Real Madrid and will finally be departing Paris for Madrid on a free transfer this summer.
RENNES
Following the return of Julian Stephan during the November international break, Stade Rennais have been much-improved as they attempt to launch themselves into the top-half and even towards the top six and the European places in Ligue 1. They have had a few off-field issues to contend with this season but appear in a good spot at the moment.
Rennes come into this one on the back of a comfortable 3-1 defeat of Clermont in Ligue 1 last weekend. Warmed Omari and a brace from Martin Terrier gave Rennes all three points and they are now on a nine-match winning streak in domestic competitions, thanks to their run to the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France, too.
THE PREDICTION
This one has the potential to be a thrilling and high-scoring contest at Parc des Princes between two teams in excellent form. PSG have scored 53 goals in their 22 Ligue 1 matches so far this season and they are unbeaten in their last 18 matches across all competitions and they are the overwhelming favourites. However, Rennes have the potential to at least threaten and hurt the PSG defence so a home win with over 2.5 goals would appear likely.
