THE LOWDOWN

MARSEILLE

Marseille’s hopes of forcing their way into an automatic UEFA Champions League spot were handed a huge blow as they were unable to prevail in their clash with Lille last week, succumbing to a 2-1 defeat.

That is now two losses in their last three matches and they will be disappointed by the loss to Lille having taken the lead into the break. Jonathan Clauss gave the away side the lead before Jonathan David levelled from the spot just five minutes into the second half and Jonathan Bamba’s effort in the final 20 minutes proved to be the difference between the two teams.

Marseille now need a minor miracle to finish second ahead of Lens but they are good on home soil having won their last three while they are unbeaten in their last five at the Velodrome.

BREST

Brest are ending the season on a high and have managed to pull themselves comfortably away from relegation danger thanks to a solid run of form. They made it back-to-back successes with a 2-1 win over Clermont last week with goals from Franck Honorat and Steve Mounie seeing them fight back from a goal down.

They have now lost just one of their last nine matches while they have won three of their last four and that run of results has seen them climb to 14th in the table with them boasting an unassailable eight-point gap to the bottom four.

Despite their recent efforts, their away form is still not the best. They lost on their last outing and have failed to win any of their last four while it is just one success in their last 11 Ligue 1 matches on the road.

THE PREDICTION

Marseille will hope for some help from elsewhere as they aim to leapfrog Lens into second spot in Ligue 1. They have slipped-up in two important matches of late, including against their rivals for a place in the top two but they are strong on home soil. On the other hand, Brest are poor on the travels with just one win in their last 11 league games away from home so expect Marseille to land the spoils in this one.

TIP: MARSEILLE TO WIN
