THE LOWDOWN

NEWCASTLE

  • Three straight defeats and a whopping 11 goals conceded over the course of those losses sees Newcastle seemingly back at square one under Eddie Howe after an initial bounce in results.
  • The Magpies will be without both defenders Federico Fernandez and Jamal Lewis through injury, whilst central midfielder Isaac Hayden is suspended after accumulating five yellow cards.

MAN UTD

  • Man Utd’s most recent fixture came away at Norwich where they won 0-1, their second consecutive triumph by a goal to nil under interim manager Ralph Rangnick, who boasts an unbeaten record in all competitions as boss so far.
  • Paul Pogba is the only player currently confirmed to be definitely missing for the Red Devils here, which is a huge boost for Rangnick.

THE TEAM NEWS

MAN UTD

PREDICTED XI (4-2-2-2): De Gea; Dalot, Lindelof, Maguire, Telles; McTominay, Fred; Sancho, Fernandes; Ronaldo, Rashford

QUESTIONABLE: Cavani (Injured), Martial (Injured), Varane (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Man Utd have certainly found a second wind since the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and have tightened up significantly from a defensive perspective under Rangnick. Unfortunately for Newcastle, they have failed to do the same under Howe and against a United side with Cristiano Ronaldo within their ranks, this does not bode well for the Magpies who conceded twice to Ronaldo in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford. Man Utd emerged comfortably victorious in that match and the same outcome here has to be favoured with Man Utd’s vast attacking quality likely proving too strong for the home side to contain.

Tip: MAN UTD TO WIN
