THE LOWDOWN

MAN UTD

  • After having failed to pick up three points in either of their last two Premier League away fixtures, Man Utd finally got back to winning ways on the road in midweek, beating Brentford 1-3 in West London.
  • Scott McTominay was forced off against the Bees following a knock, but Ralph Rangnick expects the Scottish international to be available for the visit of West Ham, although the likes of Paul Pogba, Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are not expected to feature.

WEST HAM

  • West Ham fell to a surprise 2-3 home defeat against Leeds Utd in their most recent Premier League fixture only a week after beating the same opponent in the FA Cup third round, although the Hammers remain in the top four heading into this latest round of league fixtures.
  • A late call is expected to be made on whether Tomas Soucek is deemed fit enough to play following a bout of COVID-19, whilst Algerian Said Benrahma has returned from international duty and could play a part at Old Trafford.

THE PREDICTION

Man Utd will be hoping to use their victory over Brentford as a platform in which to build upon, but they won’t have it all their own way here against a determined West Ham side full of players capable of matching the Red Devils in terms of ability and performance levels. With the Hammers two points clear of the hosts, they are not expected to take any unnecessary risks that could leave them exposed at the back, with the onus on Man Utd to break them down. This could therefore, prove a frustrating afternoon for Rangnick’s men, who themselves must be aware of the threat West Ham pose themselves going forward. Matches between these two sides at have proven low scoring affairs in recent times with the last four meetings at Old Trafford in all competitions having seen under 2.5 goals scored. This encounter is likely to go the same way and backing under 2.5 goals should be seriously considered.

Tip: UNDER 2.5 GOALS
