THE LOWDOWN

LIVERPOOL

Jurgen Klopp’s dream finale of bowing out of Liverpool with four trophies this season was ended a couple of weeks ago when his Reds side travelled to Old Trafford and suffered a dramatic 4-3 extra-time defeat to Manchester United with Klopp evidently disgruntled in that afternoon’s post-match press conferences.

They do, though, have the opportunity to lift themselves to the top-of-the-table on Sunday afternoon with a victory taking them above Arsenal. A draw between Arsenal and City after Liverpool’s game with Brighton would keep Liverpool top and even a City win would mean that they stay at the top.

BRIGHTON

Coached by former Shakhtar Donetsk and Sassuolo boss Roberto De Zerbi, Brighton and Hove Albion had appeared to have balanced Premier League and UEFA Europa League commitments well throughout this season but they were eliminated from the UEFA Europa League by Roma at the Round of 16 stage and they have slipped out of the top seven in the league, too.

The Seagulls did, though, head into the March international break on the back of back-to-back slender but much-needed, morale boosting 1-0 defeats over Nottingham Forest in the Premier League and then a consolation win over Roma in Europe. Prior to those victories, they had managed just one win in six matches across all competition.

THE PREDICTION

Roberto De Zerbi is seemingly in the running for most top jobs that are on offer this summer but he will need to finish the season with a flourish to maintain his currently good reputation. Without European distractions, his injury ravaged Brighton side should be able to rediscover a flow that can see them score against anyone in the league, as they showed with a 3-3 draw at Anfield last season. Liverpool remain firm favourites but have themselves occasionally been susceptible at the back so an entertaining home win should be in store.

TIP: LIVERPOOL TO WIN & OVER 2.5 GOALS
