THE LOWDOWN

FULHAM

Former Hull City, Watford and Everton boss Marco Silva does have a Fulham side that are sitting firmly in the middle-of-the-table as they try and challenge for a top seven or eight finish alongside Newcastle United. They have been so inconsistent throughout the campaign that it is difficult to understand just how good they are.

The Cottagers come into this one on the back of being blown away by Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Tuesday evening, eventually losing by three goals to one. That means they have now managed just the one win in their last four matches after having to produce a come back to share a 3-3 draw with Sheffield United last weekend.

NEWCASTLE

Eddie Howe has been uncomfortable with the ‘entertainers’ tag being labelled at his Newcastle United side but the fact of the matter is that the Magpies have very much been the Premier League ‘entertainers’. For example, their 30 matches in the Premier League so far this season have consisted of a combined total of 116 goals.

The visitors have suffered just one defeat in their last four matches but do come into this one on the back of a frustrating 1-1 draw at home to Everton in midweek with Dominic Calvert-Lewin scoring a late equaliser from the penalty spot in that game at St James’ Park. That came a few days after coming from 3-1 down to defeat West Ham United by four goals to three.

THE TEAM NEWS

FULHAM

Marco Silva has been one of the more blessed managers in the league this season with no injury concerns in each of the last two match days and there have no injuries reported either.

Silva did take the decision to make three changes after just half an hour on Saturday afternoon and there could be changed to the starting line-up this weekend.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Leno; Castagne, Adarabioyo, Bassey, Robinson; Reed, Joao Palhinha; Wilson, Andreas Pereira, Willian; Rodrigo Muniz

NEWCASTLE

Eddie Howe has been dealing with several injury issues throughout the campaign but he is hopeful that Lewis Hall will be able to return to training for this weekend.

They do, though, remain without the likes of Tino Livramento and Miguel Almiron. Anthony Gordon, on the other hand, has now finally returned from suspension for the Magpies.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Dubravka; Krafth, Schar, Burn, Dummett; Longstaff, Bruno Guimaraes, Willock; Murphy, Isak, Barnes

UNAVAILABLE: Pope (Injured), Botman (Injured), Lascelles (Injured), Livramento (Injured), Trippier (Injured), Miley (Injured), Tonali (Suspended), Joelinton (Injured), Almiron (Injured), Wilson (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Targett (Injured), Hall (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

As mentioned, Fulham have been inconsistent throughout the campaign and there is an argument, paradoxically, that they are both overperforming and underperforming this season. Defensively, as shown on Tuesday, they can be really lax but have plenty of attacking options. Given the fact they welcome a high-scoring, high-conceding Newcastle side to the Craven Cottage this weekend, both teams scoring would look a good bet for this one.

TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
