THE LOWDOWN

FULHAM

Coached by former Hull City, Watford and Everton manager Marco Silva, Fulham have been bizarre throughout this campaign. They have put in some excellent performances and had famous results, such as defeats of Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, but they sit firmly ensconced in the middle-of-the-table.

The hosts come into this one on the back of another good win as they defeated West Ham United by two goals to nil at the London Stadium last weekend with a brace from Andreas Pereira. Prior to that victory they had managed just one win in five matches in the Premier League and collected just a point since the March international break.

LIVERPOOL

There is a real danger that Jurgen Klopp’s reign in charge of Liverpool ends in something of a damp squib as the Reds continued their mini spring collapse in midweek. They won the second-leg of their UEFA Europa League quarter-final tie against Atalanta but were generally lacklustre and underwhelming in the game and suffered a 3-1 aggregate defeat.

That loss followed on from a shock 1-0 defeat at home to Crystal Palace which has really set them back in the title race. That loss, in which Eberechi Eze scored a first-half winning goal for the Eagles, means that the visitors have now managed just four victories in their last nine matches across all competitions.

THE TEAM NEWS

FULHAM

Marco Silva has been blessed with a fully fit squad for a lot of this season and the Cottagers boss is once again able to choose from a squad that has no injury or suspension issues.

The west Londoners were without both Tim Ream and Kenny Tete last weekend but both defenders have returned and will be available this weekend.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Leno; Castagne, Adarabioyo, Bassey, Robinson; Joao Palhinha, Lukic; Wilson, Pereira, Willian; Muniz

LIVERPOOL

Jurgen Klopp said that it was ‘insane’ Trent Alexander-Arnold even played against Atalanta in midweek and said he was ‘running out of gas’ so will likely be rested for this one.

His cover, though, Conor Bradley, is still sidelined through injury, too, alongside the likes of Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara and young attacker Ben Doak.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Alisson; Gomez, Konate, Quansah, Robertson; Mac Allister, Endo, Szoboszlai; Salah, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz

UNAVAILABLE: Matip (Injured), Bradley (Injured), Thiago (Injured), Doak (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

As mentioned, Liverpool have managed four wins in nine games with their four victories coming against Sparta Prague in the UEFA Europa League Round of 16, a come from behind win against Brighton, bottom-of-the-table Sheffield United and that aforementioned consolation win against Atalanta. Fulham will get on the front foot and will create chances against Liverpool with an entertaining encounter in which both teams scoring looks a good bet for this one at Craven Cottage.

TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
