Emilio Nava advanced to the next stage in Los Cabos after defeating Aleksander Vukic in straight sets in their first-round match. Nava went an early break up in the first but was pegged back by Vukic, only to take the set on a tiebreak. He raced into a 4-0 lead in set two and ultimately sealed a 7-6 6-3 win after an hour and 41 minutes.
Yunchaokete Bu will be his opponent in the next round after the Chinese player also won his first-round match in straight sets. Bu was 4-2 down to Mexican Alan Magadan in the first set but recovered well to edge in front on a tiebreak. He found his rhythm in the second to go a double break up and win 7-6 6-2.
These two are evenly matched and are coming off the back of similar first-round results. There’s little to separate them and it could be decided by a third set.
