THE PREDICTION

Brisbane Heat were stunned by an imperious performance from Adelaide Strikers bowler Amanda-Jade Wellington in the Eliminator. The leg-spinner recorded the best bowling figures in WBBL history, taking five wickets for just eight runs off her four overs as the Heat were restricted to just 114/8. That target was chased down with eight wickets and 3.3 overs remaining, leading the Strikers on to the Challenger against Melbourne Renegades with the winner facing Perth Scorchers in the final.

In the Renegades, Adelaide are up against a formidable top order led by Indian stars Jemimah Rodrigues and recently announced WBBL Player of the Year Harmanpreet Kaur. Alongside a wide range of bowling options including Harmanpreet, captain Sophie Molineux and Ella Hayward, the Strikers batters are in for a tough examination. Should Adelaide Strikers’ top order get off to a good start during the Powerplay, they are more than capable of putting a significant total on the board whether they be setting or chasing a target. Early wickets however, could lead to a collapse and ultimately prove a decisive factor in them falling to defeat.

In what is expected to be an extremely close battle, Melbourne Renegades may just have the edge due to the international class and form of both Rodrigues and Harmanpreet, so consider backing them to book a date with the Scorchers in the final.
