THE LOWDOWN
PESHAWAR ZALMI
- Peshawar Zalmi suffered a second loss in succession to Pakistan Super League leaders Multan Sultans and just like the first defeat, their latest loss was a reminder of how much they need to improve to challenge for the title.
- Zalmi were skittled for 140 in pursuit of 183 for the win with Shoaib Malik offered very little support in his efforts having notched 44 but the pressure is on openers Kamran Akmal and Haider Ali in this contest having both fallen in the second over of their last outing, setting the tone for an underwhelming chase.
KARACHI KINGS
- Karachi Kings’ dreadful start to the PSL continued as they lost for the fifth game in-a-row, meaning they are still without a win at the halfway point of the competition and time is well and truly against them to climb the standings.
- Islamabad United were the latest side to get the better of them as they handed the Kings a 42-run loss with more needed with the bat from their top order having seen just one of their top six make it into the 20s.
THE PREDICTION
Karachi Kings just cannot get going in the PSL despite possessing plenty of talent on their roster and they look set to be eliminated from the tournament having failed to win any of their opening five games. They cannot afford any further losses starting with this game against Peshawar Zalmi but while their opponents come into this having suffered back-to-back losses, they were both against top side Multan Sultans and they should be capable of making a return to winning ways against the winless Kings.
