THE LOWDOWN
ISLAMABAD UNITED
- Islamabad United returned to winning ways to continue their W-L sequence to begin the Pakistan Super League which now stands at five games and they will be desperate to end that run by making it back-to-back victories.
- They got the better of Karachi Kings in what was an impressive performance last time out, claiming the victory by 42 runs which was largely thanks to the efforts of man of the match Shadab Khan with the all-rounder producing a quick-fire 34 before taking 4-15 with the ball.
QUETTA GLADIATORS
- Quetta Gladiators avoided a third straight loss in the PSL as they edged a narrow contest with Lahore Qalanders in thrilling fashion and they will be desperate to build on that performance as they aim for greater consistency.
- Needing 205 to win, England international Jason Roy produced a sensational display of power-hitting as he whacked 116 from just 57 balls and with James Vince ably supporting with 49*, the pair were able to guide their side to the win with just three balls to spare.
THE PREDICTION
This should be an excellent contest between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators with the pair coming into this on the back of eye-catching victories. Islamabad were solid with bat and ball in their win over Karachi Kings while Quetta Gladiators produced a stunning effort with the bat to get the better of Lahore Qalanders and both come into this with the belief that they can record another win here. There is little to split the two but Islamabad have won the past three matchups between the teams and having won by 43 runs in their most recent contest earlier in the month, they are just given the edge in this one.
