THE TEAM NEWS
PAKISTAN
- Pakistan continued their excellent run of form at the T20 World Cup by making it five wins from five and they head into the semi-finals as the only team with a 100% record which stands them in good stead ahead of this clash with Australia.
- If Pakistan are to progress, it is likely that the form of opening duo Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam will have done the damage with the bat with that pair enjoying an excellent tournament and Azam comes into the semi-finals with more runs than any other player.
AUSTRALIA
- Australia made it four wins from five in the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup as they secured their spot in the semi-finals with a victory over West Indies to ensure that they finished in second spot in Group 1.
- David Warner produced a timely reminder of his quality with a score of 89 not out and with the Australians producing a solid all-round effort in their eight-wicket success, they are likely to name an unchanged side in their quest to make the final.
THE PREDICTION
Pakistan and Australia do battle in the first semi-final of the T20
World Cup with both teams possessing an excellent chance of progressing.
There appears to be very little to separate the two but Pakistan’s
incredible record in the UAE cannot be ignored. They have won their last
15 T20i matches in the UAE and with five of those coming in the Super
12 stage of this tournament, their consistency which has been built on
the back of some sensational individual efforts suggests that they
should have enough to book their place in the final.
